North Dakota State transfer Skunberg officially joins Illinois State roster

NORMAL – The Illinois State basketball team’s addition of Boden Skunberg became official Thursday as Skunberg’s scholarship agreement was received.

A transfer from North Dakota State, Skunberg has one season of eligibility remaining.

“We are really excited about the addition of Boden Skunberg,” said ISU coach Ryan Pedon. “Having played against him this past season we were very familiar with his game and had great admiration from afar.

“We believe he is an elite competitor that will bring us a mixture of size, skill, and an ability to shoot the basketball.”

Skunberg led the Bison in scoring (14.1) and rebounding (5.4) last season.

Skunberg’s 66 assists were second most on NDSU. He made 41 percent of his shots overall (154 of 377), 34 percent from 3-point range (49 of 144) and 79 percent from the free throw line (79 of 100).

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound guard earned all-Summit League honorable mention honors the past two seasons. He has scored 1,142 career points through his first four seasons and played in 114 games with 71 starts.

Skunberg is the first transfer to join the Redbirds this offseason. Pedon has two more scholarships available.
