North Dakota individuals and organizations honored for commitment to the arts

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – On Thursday evening, Governor Armstrong honored individuals and organizations for their commitment to the arts scene in North Dakota.

The North Dakota Governor’s Awards for the Arts started in 1977.

This year’s awardees included:

  • Individual Achievement:  Marie Snavely (Bowman)
  • Private Business:  Indigenized Behavioral Healing (Belcourt)
  • Champion of the Arts:  Ijjo John Stephen (Grand Forks)
  • Nonprofit Arts Organization:  Arts for Vets (Grand Forks)
  • Nonprofit Arts Organization:  Minot Symphony Orchestra
  • Arts in Education:  Bismarck State College Theatre
  • Individual Cultural Heritage:  Denise Joyce Kitson (Pehinsawin) (Bismarck)
