North Dakota breaks single month natural gas production record in July
FARGO — North Dakota broke a natural gas production record in July, according to a report released Thursday, Sept. 14, by the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources.
The report says 101,982,539 MCF (thousand cubic feet) of natural gas were produced in July, with a 96% capture rate.
Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms said this is the first time ever that the state produced over 100,000,000 MCF of natural gas in a single month.
There was a 1% increase in both oil and natural gas production in July.
Helms also says oil production is creeping back up to pre-pandemic levels, with the state hitting 1.18 million barrels per day in July.
“It has been more than two-and-a-half years since we hit 1.18 million (barrels per day), so it has been a long haul — goes back really to early COVID times,” Helms said.
Helms says their goal is to hit 1.2 million barrels per day by the end of the year.
