New facility enables year-round lineworker training in North Dakota

MANDAN, N.D. (Valley Information Reside) – The North Dakota Affiliation of Rural Electrical Cooperatives (NDAREC) and Bismarck State Faculty (BSC) marked the grand opening of a brand new lineworker coaching facility in Mandan.

The greater than 26,000 square-foot facility contains an indoor coaching space with 44-foot ceiling clearance to allow year-round lineworker coaching. NDAREC’s principal facility was additionally renovated as a part of the venture, offering extra capability for conferences, schooling and coaching to assist the operations of its cooperative members.

The venture was funded by a $4 million federal grant from the Financial Improvement Administration and greater than $1 million in matching funds from native electrical cooperatives.

NDAREC is the statewide commerce affiliation for 16 electrical distribution cooperatives and 5 technology transmission cooperatives working in North Dakota. The distribution cooperatives present electrical energy to greater than 250,000 North Dakotans throughout 64,000 miles of distribution line.
