Native American Hall of Honor seeks nominations
BISMARCK — Public nominations are open for the 2023 North Dakota Native American Corridor of Honor, an annual occasion that acknowledges Native People who’ve excelled at representing their tribes and cultures.
Positioned within the North Dakota Heritage Middle & State Museum, this system is a partnership between the State Historic Society of North Dakota, the North Dakota Indian Affairs Fee and the State Historic Society Basis.
Conventional and modern achievements are acknowledged in these classes: arts and tradition, athletics, management, legendary and army/veterans. Nominees could be residing or in memoriam.
The deadline for nominations has been set for five p.m. on Feb. 17.
“These applications carry nice honor to Native historic and modern leaders for his or her important contributions. These people are the inspiration for future generations,” mentioned Nathan Davis, North Dakota Indian Affairs commissioner, in a press launch.
As much as two folks per class are accepted into the Corridor of Honor every year, and the honoring occasion will likely be Sept. 7.
Recipients for the 2023 awards will likely be featured within the North Dakota Native American Corridor of Honor on the State Museum.
