BUXTON, N.D. — A Minot woman was killed in a rollover Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 29 near Buxton, N.D.

At about 3:15 p.m., a 2001 Honda CRV was northbound on I-29 when the driver lost control on the icy highway and entered the east ditch and overturned, according to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The rollover occurred about 3.5 miles south of Buxton.

The driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle, the patrol said. In the vehicle were a 74-year-old man from Kenmare, N.D., and a 39-year-old woman from Minot. It was unclear which person was driving the vehicle, the patrol said. The woman was deceased at the scene, and the man was airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Both occupants were not wearing seat belts and air bags were not deployed, the patrol said. The crash remains under investigation.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
