Minot State men’s, women’s basketball both make NSIC tourney for first time since 2019-20 year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KMOT) – Minot State’s men’s and women’s teams will both see postseason action for the first time in four years, with a sweep of Sioux Falls Saturday on the road.

The Beaver men tied their record for most wins in a season in the NCAA with their 20th victory, defeating the Cougars 79-55.

The men’s team clinched the No. 4 seed in the NSIC Tournament and an automatic berth in the tournament quarterfinals.

Minot State’s women’s team came back from down 15 points with six minutes left to knock off the Cougars 62-60.

Lorelei McIver hit a buzzer-beating shot with two seconds left to secure the win for MSU.

The Beavers secured the No. 10 seed in the NSIC Tournament, and will play Wednesday at either St. Cloud State or Minnesota-Duluth.
