Man dies after rolling ATV in rural Steele County

STEELE COUNTY, N.D. — A man died after rolling his ATV in rural Steele County on Friday, June 16.

Christopher Johnson, a 46-year-old man from Northwood, North Dakota, was traveling east around 6 p.m. on 16th Street Northeast at an unknown rate of speed, according to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

He lost control of his Polaris Ranger 900 near the intersection with 134th Avenue Northeast in rural Steele County, approximately 13 miles northeast of Sharon, North Dakota.

The ATV rolled and Johnson was ejected; he was not wearing restraints, according to the patrol.

Johnson suffered fatal injuries from the crash, the patrol said.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the NDHP.

Sharon is roughly 90 miles northwest of Fargo.
