Letter: North Dakota doesn’t present ‘good life’ for all of its residents
As Gov. Doug Burgum was planning his State of the State speech – themed “The Good Life” – plans had been being finalized by our state legislators to point out that the “Good Life” was just for sure individuals in North Dakota.
Over 20 anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ payments have been submitted this session,
gaining our state nationwide consideration for all of the mistaken causes; none of which do something to push our state ahead.
Rep. Jim Kasper, R-Fargo, has bragged on his social media web page about his intention to shun queer voices and guarantee queer erasure. When pressed on the suicide statistics amongst queer individuals, displaying analysis that anti-queer laws tends to make these statistic rise, Mr. Kasper responded, “There isn’t a try and ‘erase’ or ‘hurt’ people who find themselves confused about gender identification points. My deepest sympathies for many who really feel the necessity to self-harm over laws that they don’t agree with.”
The callousness of this assertion took my breath away.
Please message Mr. Kasper and each legislator to allow them to know that each one individuals should dwell a lifetime of peace, happiness, and authenticity in North Dakota. Encourage no votes on all anti-trans, and anti-queer payments that hit the ground this session. Allow them to know that North Dakota is best than the discriminatory and callous payments Mr. Kasper and his associates put ahead. After they do vote for these payments, we are going to use our energy within the subsequent election to vote them out, then possibly our state can transfer out of the shadows.
