Hazelton man killed in crash
HAZELTON, N.D. — A 71-year-old Hazelton man was killed in a crash which occurred Monday morning, Feb. 26, in his home town.
At roughly 9:30 a.m., a semi truck hauling agricultural products was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 83 when it crashed into a pickup truck at the intersection of 64th Street Southeast and North Dakota Highway 34.
The semi crashed into the right side of the pickup and both vehicles became interlocked and stopped in the ditch on the northeast portion of the intersection.
The roads crossing Highway 83 were posted with stop signs, a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol stated.
The driver of the pickup, who was not wearing a seat belt, was extracted from the crash and taken to the Linton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the semi, a 23-year-old from Napoleon, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
The semi driver currently does not face charges stemming from the crash.
The Emmons County Sheriff’s Office, Linton Ambulance Service, Hazelton Fire Department and Braddock Fire Department also responded to the crash.
Hazelton is roughly 45 miles southeast of Bismarck.
