Father of North Dakota first lady dies
WEST FARGO — Maynard Helgaas, the daddy of North Dakota First Girl Kathryn Helgaas Burgum, died on Tuesday, Aug. 2, of problems from Alzheimer’s Illness. He was 87.
A household obituary says Helgaas was born in northwest Minnesota in 1934 and lived a lot of his life in Jamestown. He attended North Dakota State College and operated a number of profitable agribusinesses.
In 2012,
Helgaas was inducted
into the North Dakota Agriculture Corridor of Fame for his contributions to the commerce. He lived in West Fargo on the finish of his life.

Burgum, who has served as first girl since her husband, Doug, grew to become governor in 2016, mourned her father in a tweet on Tuesday.
