Fargo welcomes home area veterans from Honor Flight of ND/MN
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – For the first time in the 18-year history of the North Dakota/Minnesota Honor Flight, two planes of veterans were sent to our nation’s capital. After an amazing three-day trip, emotions continued as veterans were welcomed home by their community.
After the loaded three days, hundreds of family, friends, and community members lined the halls of Hector International Airport.
“For several years, they didn’t do this, but I am so glad they are now,” said Terry Cornelison, a Navy veteran from Fargo.
Husbands, wives, children, and grandchildren watched their loved ones get the recognition they deserve as they walked through the crowd.
With signs and posters in hand, several children said they were there for in support of a grandparent.
“I’m here for Grandpa Doug!” said Sterling. “I’m here to show everyone how proud I am of my grandpa,” Halvor explained.
“That’s my grandpa, right there! I’m so proud of you, we love you,” said a group of girls.
Holding their posters high, and making sure their very special words were heard by our nation’s very special heroes.
