The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced Wednesday, Jan. 31, that five businesses, including Explorer’s Academy Jamestown LLC, were approved for $6.7 million in loan and venture funds through the North Dakota Development Fund Inc. during the fourth quarter of 2023.

“I am excited to witness the growth and impact these funds will have on the recipients’ endeavors,” said Jessica Tooke, CEO of the North Dakota Development Fund. “This quarter’s recipients reflect the diversity of North Dakota’s economic landscape, spanning from child care and robotics to hospitality and facility design.”

Explorer’s Academy Jamestown received $100,000 for building improvements and working capital. Its goal is to provide a stable and safe environment that allows children to be calm and comfortable while learning the fundamentals.

The North Dakota Development Fund was created in 1991 as an economic development tool. It provides flexible funding through debt and equity investments for new or expanding North Dakota primary sector businesses. The fund also manages the Child Care Loan Program created by the North Dakota Legislature in 2009.

Jamestown Sun staff report

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
