BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – On Wednesday, Democrat Trygve Hammer officially launched his campaign for the 2024 North Dakota U.S. House race.

Hammer is the first candidate to challenge incumbent Kelly Armstrong, who told KFYR yesterday that he will be running for re-election.

Hammer said in a statement “I am no stranger to hard work, and I understand the importance of good leadership. I am running for Congress because it is time to put government to work for all of us. It is time to end the grandstanding and culture-war intrusions into our most personal decisions as persons, parents, and patients. It is time to elect a pro-union, pro-choice, and pro-democracy leader to represent North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Hammer ran unsuccessfully for public office in 2020 and 2022 for a spot in the state Legislature and on the Public Service Commission.
