Captain Dominic James out Saturday vs. North Dakota
Minnesota Duluth will be without senior captain and top-line center Dominic James against North Dakota on Saturday at Amsoil Arena.
James, who missed all of his junior year with a shoulder injury, left the game with a little over 13 minutes to play in the second period on Friday, heading to the bench at the end of his shift and never returning. On the next shift, North Dakota went up 3-0.
Bulldogs coach Scott Sandelin didn’t have any information about James’ injury after Friday’s 7-3 loss to the Fighting Hawks.
In addition to James, the Bulldogs are also without freshman wing Max Plante and junior center Jack Smith. Both are out with upper body injuries this weekend.
Freshmen centers Zam Plante and Callum Arnott, senior center Carter Loney and sophomore center Braden Fischer will anchor the middle of the Bulldogs four forward lines for Saturday’s NCHC series finale.
UMD has two healthy scratches in defensemen Riley Bodnarchuk and Will Francis. All 12 healthy forwards are in the lineup, including freshman wing Trevor Stachowiak. He is making his regular season debut.
