A buyer advisory on the BNSF web site says the derailment occurred about 3:36 a.m. CDT at present (Friday, Feb. 24). The Dakotan web site quotes Karter Lesmann, chief of the Burlington Rural Fireplace Division, as saying two locomotives and 17 container automobiles had been derailed. No accidents had been reported and no hazardous supplies had been launched, though some had been current on the practice, Lesmann mentioned.
One monitor of the principle line is estimated to reopen at 11 p.m. at present, BNSF mentioned on its web site; the second is estimated for reopening at midday on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Whereas the derailment is on the route of Amtrak’s Empire Builder, no Amtrak trains had been impacted by the accident due to the weather-related cancellation of the Builder’s Thursday departures from each Chicago and the West Coast. These are the trains that will have been passing via North Dakota at present.
