Bismarck-Mandan workshops set for potential political candidates

Two workshops are planned in coming weeks for people considering running for local elected offices in Bismarck-Mandan.

The Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC, Bismarck Mandan Board of Realtors and North Dakota Association of Realtors are hosting a Candidate Training session on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, at 612 E. Boulevard Ave. in Bismarck. There is a $50 registration fee. For more information or to register, go to https://bit.ly/2024candidatetraining.

A free workshop is planned in Mandan. The Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders workshop is Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Mandan City Hall, 205 Second Ave. NW. It will be conducted by the Mandan Tomorrow: Leadership, Pride and Image Committee in partnership with NDSU Extension Morton County. Registration is requested by Feb. 4 at cityofmandan.com/register or by calling 701-667-3478.

“Our goal is to promote interest in leadership so the public has more candidates than the number of positions available to choose from (for) each open position with the city and county commissions as well as school and park boards,” Committee Chair Laurie Leingang said. “Contested elections encourages voting, stimulates debate and conversation, which helps bring new ideas and perspectives.”
