Bills impacting elections, including mail-in ballots, heard at ND Legislature
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Lawmakers have earlier than them a slate of payments that might have an effect on how elections are run in North Dakota.
About 30 items of laws are being thought-about, together with one from Senator Jeff Magrum of Hazelton. SB 2308 would remove mail-in ballots. Senator Magrum says mail-in voting will increase election prices for counties and creates extra alternatives for voter fraud to happen.
”The living proof right here is there’s a number of room for mischief with the mail-in balloting and I believe there will probably be some testimony to that impact,” stated Senator Magrum, R-Hazelton.
Secretary of State Michael Howe testified in opposition to the invoice. He says within the final two elections, greater than half of North Dakotans have utilized vote by mail. In 2022, the State Auditor’s workplace decided the state’s election programs are “extremely safe.”
