California groundwater laws and the potential purposes of comparable rules in Nebraska would be the focus of a webinar hosted by the College of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Middle for Agricultural Profitability at midday on June 2.
In 2015, California handed sweeping laws requiring the preparation and implementation of native groundwater sustainability plans. The California Sustainable Groundwater Administration Act is now probably the most aggressive groundwater administration legal guidelines within the West and has options that could be relevant in Nebraska.
The webinar might be offered by Dave Aiken, a professor and extension agricultural legislation and water legislation specialist within the college’s Division of Agricultural Economics. He’ll describe the laws, clarify the place there are coverage disagreements between state and native officers and spotlight options of the act that could be thought of enhancements over their Nebraska counterparts.
It is going to be hosted on Zoom and registration is open on the Middle for Agricultural Profitability’s web site, cap.unl.edu/webinars.
