Omaha Police searching for person of interest in Regency homicide
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating and a person of interest in a homicide investigation from Saturday morning near Regency Park.
Police described Matthew Briggs, 42, as white, 5-foot-11, weighing approximately 260 pounds, with brown eyes, brown and white hair with a goatee beard, according to police at the scene. Briggs is believed to have a firearm in his possession.
Police say not to attempt to make contact with Briggs.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact 911 immediately.
The incident began with a domestic assault at the Essex Drive residence at roughly 5:40 a.m. Saturday, OPD Capt. Jeremy Christian told 6 News at the scene. He said the investigation resulted in a well-being call. Officers entered the residence and located Steven Greg Donsbach, 52, who had been shot dead.
Police said Briggs was driving his registered 2005 red Buick Century sedan with Nebraska license plate YLH330. Authorities located the vehicle in Omaha’s Mandan Park, but the search for Briggs himself is ongoing.
