Nebraska special session: Lawmakers adjourn Day 1 after less than an hour, filing 20 bills without debate

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Day one of the Nebraska Legislature’s special session is over.

In less than an hour after the 10 a.m. start, senators introduced 20 bills and five legislative resolutions.

There was no debate.

State senators will have two more days to introduce additional bills. Reports have indicated there could be more than 90 of them in total.

Some lawmakers have told 6 News previously that they believe the governor’s plan is dead on arrival. On top of that, they said they were outraged that the Gov. Jim Pillen didn’t even give them 24 hours notice on what the parameters would be for the special session.
