The Huskers entered their second game of the series against Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. Nebraska responded to Friday night’s 9-3 loss with a big 13-5 six-inning win.
The Huskers scored in every inning but one, building up an 11-1 lead over Rutgers by the fifth inning. Nebraska earned three runs in the first and five runs in the fourth. Nebraska finished with eight batters earning a hit in the game, six of whom produced an RBI.
Ava Bredwell led the way in the batter’s box for the Huskers. Bredwell finished 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a home run. She also had three RBIs. Caitlynn Neal hit 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Katelyn Caneda finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Emmerson Cope also delivered multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Kaylin Kinney started in the pitching circle for Nebraska and tossed a complete game. Kinney earned her 15th win of the season, throwing two strikeouts and allowing five runs off eight hits.
With the win, Nebraska improves to 24-16 on the season and moves to 7-3 in the conference. The Huskers will conclude their series against Rutgers on Sunday. The first pitch is set for noon and can be viewed B1G+.
