The transfer portal has become one of the most significant changes in the sport of college football over the last decade. Nebraska football has seen 14 transfers since December 2023. Six of those transfers have joined the program, while the remaining eight have left the team.
Two of the more notable names in the portal are quarterbacks Chubba Purdy and Jeff Sims. Sims was Nebraska’s opening-day starter and finished his career in Lincoln with a record of 0-2. He has yet to find a new destination.
Chubba Purdy also made only two starts in 2023, and like starter Jeff Sims, he finished with a 0-2 mark. Purdy initially transferred to San Jose State but changed his commitment to Nevada after SJSU head coach Brent Brennan left for Arizona.
