Another Florida prospect announced he is coming to Lincoln. Jacory Barney Jr., a wide receiver at Miami Palmetto, announced his commitment to Nebraska on Instagram Saturday evening.
This is the second Florida prospect to commit to Nebraska for the 2024 class, the first being linebacker Willis McGahee IV, a Miami native who committed back in April. Barney Jr. chose Nebraska over other D1 offers, including Miami, Texas A&M and West Virginia.
Barney Jr. played all over for Miami Palmetto’s offense, taking snaps at wide receiver, running back and quarterback. Last season, he hauled 37 catches for 559 yards and four touchdowns. At running back, he rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown off 21 carries. At quarterback, he completed 17 of 23 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns.
He is listed at 6 feet, 165 pounds and isn’t the first Miami Palmetto player to commit to Nebraska. Former Husker Dwight Bootle and Florida transfer Corey Collier both attended Miami Palmetto. Defensive backs’ coach Evan Cooper also attended Miami Palmetto.
