A Nebraska transfer narrowed his options to three and LSU made the cut.
Defensive end Jimari Butler will choose between Texas A&M, Florida State, and LSU, per a report from On3.
In 2024, Butler had 22 pressures and two sacks with the Huskers. According to PFF, he posted a pass rush win rate of 8.3%, which ranked 42nd among Big Ten edge defenders. In 2023, PFF charted Butler with 26 pressures and seven sacks.
Butler signed with Nebraska as a three-star recruit in 2020. He claimed a starting role this fall but opted to explore his options elsewhere. Butler has one year of eligibility remaining at his new home.
LSU needs to add numbers at defensive end. With Bradyn Swinson and Sai’Vion Jones moving on to the next level and Da’Shawn Womack in the transfer portal, LSU is thin at edge. LSU should be in the market for difference makers and depth pieces. With Butler, LSU can add an upside prospect with power four experience.
