HUSKERS SOFTBALL Recap – One Big Inning: Missouri 7 NEBRASKA 1

Take away the top of the 4th inning and what you had was pretty much a tight game which would’ve headed into extra innings with a 1-1 score.

But we can’t take away that half inning which was a long, slow bloodletting before leadoff hitter Julia Crenshaw finally sent one out of the infield, this one at high speed and off the fence in left-center.

The inning started walk, walk, throw into right field off of a bunt, infield single, fielder’s choice safe at home. Different runners ended up on 2nd and 3rd three different times, the final two coming home on Crenshaw’s shot which made the score 5-0.

A barely out of the infield pop-up found fieldturf to score a sixth and the still quiet Husker bats could only muster a one run response in the bottom of that inning.

The Huskers managed only 4 hits off of Missouri’s number two starter Marissa McCann who walked no one. Two of those were from Ava Bredwell who replaced Olivia DiNardo mid-game and went 2-2 with the Huskers only RBI.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers return shortly after an approximate half hour break to take on the host Wichita State Shockers.
