HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska is getting ready to host a dance for people with disabilities.

It’s all going down in Hastings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday night at the E-Free Church, and organizers say it’s a 1950′s themed sock hop.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests can come and have their hair and make up done before the dance. Goodwill also has poodle skirts people can wear to get in the spirit of the 50′s. Organizers ask that people call ahead to set up those appointments. That number is 402-463-1441.

Kylee Moormann of Goodwill Industries said this event gives everyone a way to be a part of their community.

“This is an event where we have families and people from other agencies come and they can celebrate their differences, but also have a good time doing it, so it’s very beneficial not only for the folks that don’t have disabilities, but for the people that do they can feel like they belong and integrate into the community without having to feel different,” Moormann said.

Moormann said this is their second year of this dance, in 2022 they had a prom theme.
