Two University of Missouri music professors win Grammy Awards

Chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound was recognized at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Two founding members of the ensemble group are University of Missouri music professors, cellist Stefan Freund and clarinetist Bill Kalinkos.

A Facebook post made by Alarm Will Sound Sunday night acknowledged the Grammy win.

“To be recognized alongside so many artists and ensembles whose work we admire (and who we’re lucky to call friends) is something we don’t take lightly,” Alarm Will Sound posted.

The group received the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for its performance of “Land of Winter” by Donnacha Dennehy.
