It is National Invasive Species Awareness Week across the U.S.

The Missouri Department of Conservation highlighted the Northern Snakehead fish as one of the state’s newest invasive species.

This species is known for outcompeting and eating native fish, according to a press release.

Conservationists noted that although the Snakehead looks like the native Brownfin fish, these invaders can breathe air and survive out of water for several days.
