Missouri’s lieutenant governor brings his campaign for the state’s top job to Sikeston
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe hosted an event with first responders and supporters at the rodeo grounds in Sikeston as part of his statewide bus tour as he runs for Governor.
Kehoe is one of four Republicans facing off in the state’s August 6 primary. Three candidates are running on the Democratic side.
This week, Governor Mike Parson announced he’s backing Kehoe as his replacement. Kehoe says he’s in Sikeston to thank first responders for everything they do for the community.
”These are the men and ladies who are running into a situation when everybody else is running out,” said Kehoe. “They’re the ones that keep our community safe, they’re the ones that we rely on for that community safety so we’re just excited to be around them and visit with them. The best is tell them we appreciate them, we want to back the blue, we want to back the firemen, we want to make sure they understand that we value what they do for us.”
Kehoe’s will have a meet and greet on Saturday, July 20 at Center Street Station in Sikeston at 9:30 a.m.
The next stop will be in Cape Girardeau at the Port Cape Girardeau restaurant and lounge lunch meet and greet at noon.
The last stop will be in Perryville at Catalyst Center for business at 2 p.m.

Pettis County Crash: Driver dead, passenger injured after rollover on Missouri highway
PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Sedalia man is dead and a woman is recovering after a single-vehicle crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, near the intersection of Route M and Whiteman Rd.
Investigators add that a 2018 Dodge Challenger, driven by a 30-year-old Sedalia man, was traveling north on the highway when it veered off the right side of the road.
MSHP notes that the vehicle struck a tree and a fence before rolling over.
First responders say they pronounced the driver dead at the scene around 11:55 p.m. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Authorities indicate that a 26-year-old female passenger, also from Sedalia, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further information has been released.
