Missouri woman killed in Highway 2 crash near Syracuse

SYRACUSE, Neb. (News Channel Nebraska) – The Nebraska State Patrol reported a fatal crash on Highway 2 near Syracuse at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday.

A GMC Sierra was traveling south on 34th Road and approaching the highway. The GMC entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee in the eastbound lanes of Highway 2. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch.

NSP said neither driver was injured, but a passenger in the Grand Cherokee, 87-year-old Anna White of St. Joseph, Mo., was pronounced dead.

A juvenile passenger of the GMC Sierra was transported to Children’s Hospital in Omaha with serious injuries, but they are not expected to be life threatening.
