MADISON – The Wisconsin women’s basketball team has added another guard with postseason experience.
On Wednesday, April 23, the Badgers announced the addition of Kyrah Daniels, a 6-foot guard who played her first two seasons at Missouri State.
Daniels helped the Bears finish 26-9 with a 16-4 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference that tied for the conference title. Missouri State advanced to the second round of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament where it lost to eventual champion Minnesota.
Daniels comes from a family of players. Her mother, Vicki, played at Penn State from 1983-87 and is the program’s 15th all-time leading scorer. Her father, David, played for Canada in the 2000 Olympics.
Daniels averaged 11 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 63 games in two seasons. She has two years of eligibility remaining. In the tournament she averaged 13 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 38.4% overall (10 of 26) and 35.7% (5 for 14) from three-point range.
Wisconsin coach Robin Pingeton has added four players since she was hired last month: 5-11 guard Laci Steele (North Carolina State), 6-3 forward Gift Uchenna (Southern Illinois) and 6-0 guard Destiny Howell (Howard).
