There are several events coming up on Tuesday, December 5 to help Missouri students and parents prepare to file their 2024-25 FAFSA. Students should submit their FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, each year that they plan to be at a college or university to obtain all of the financial aid available.

The FAFSA Frenzy events will be held at Missouri job centers and public libraries in Kansas City, Park Hills, Sedalia, and Joplin:

  • Kansas City, MO: Kansas City Public Library (Waldo Branch), 201 E. 75th St. 4-7 p.m.
  • Park Hills, MO: Park Hills Job Center, 403 Parkway Drive Suite A, 4-6 p.m.
  • Sedalia, MO: Sedalia Job Center, 515 S. Kentucky Ave. 5-7 p.m.
  • Joplin, MO: Joplin Job Center, 730 S. Wall Ave. 5-7 p.m.

“The FAFSA is the predominant way to determine students’ eligibility for most federal and state financial aid,” said Ben Boggs, commissioner of the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development. “Although the FAFSA has not officially been released yet, now is the perfect time to make sure students and their parents set up their FSA ID and learn more about the information they need to file in December. These FAFSA Frenzy: FSA ID events are a great opportunity for students and parents to take the first step toward applying for grants, scholarships, work-study, and other financial assistance.”

FAFSA has not officially been released yet. It typically opens on October 1 each year.

The U.S. Department of Education said the delay is due to a new version of the form going live in December. The setback could slow the delivery of college financial aid.
