JEFFERSON CITY — One of the newest members of the commission overseeing the state’s transportation system is a former mayor of St. Louis.
Gov. Mike Parson on Tuesday announced former St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay as one of two new members of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
Slay, a Democrat, served as St. Louis mayor for four terms between 2001 and 2017.
Since February 2022, Slay, 68, has been executive director of the St. Louis Regional Crime Commission, a nonprofit that runs the St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers program.
Parson, a Republican, also named former state Sen. Dan Hegeman, R-St. Joseph, to the transportation commission. Hegeman is a former chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Parson ally.
