Financial help available for Missouri counties hit by May storms
KSNF/KODE — Missouri residents from 10 counties affected by the severe weather and flooding at the end of May are eligible for financial help.
Those impacted by the storms from May 19 to May 27 can apply for federal disaster assistance.
This includes Missouri residents in Barry, Butler, Carter, Howell, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, and Texas counties.
The help falls under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program, which is open to homeowners, renters, and self-employed business owners.
This comes after President Biden made the funding available recently, after approving a major disaster declaration request from Missouri Governor Mike Parson.
These funds will help take care of any damage associated with May’s storms like flooding, straight line winds, and tornado damage.
Public assistance was also issued for nonprofits and entities in 15 Missouri counties including Barry, Bollinger, Carter, and Scott counties.
This assistance will help repair damaged infrastructure like roads, bridges, parks, and more.
If you need help and fall under the eligibility you can apply for assistance on the FEMA website.
