Missouri basketball fans might most fondly remember Norm Stewart and his 32 seasons with the Tigers. Stewart has a 634-333 record with 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, two Elite Eight, and five Sweet Sixteens. Stewart became a staple at Missouri and was the longest-tenured basketball coach with the Tigers.

However, this story isn’t about the greats, this is about the ones that didn’t fair so well. Fair warning, current head coach Dennis Gates will appear on this list, but I have him as a pending member. There are a lot of great coaches at Missouri and finding three that weren’t great was difficult.

When you have someone who spent 32 years with the program, that limits options. So here are three of the worst head coach hires in Missouri basketball history.
