Esko, Cherry earn top seeds

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- As Minnesota’s top high school baseball teams prepare for their state championship runs, the MSHSL has unveiled the matchups for each division.

Esko, the reigning Class AA champions, have earned the top seed and will face Montevideo in the first round. Montevideo won Section 3AA with a 20-5 record and will play in their first state tournament since 1996.

Meanwhile, Cherry has been selected as the top seed in the Class A Tournament. The Tigers will take on Lac Qui Parle Valley in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.

In Class AAA, Grand Rapids will face second seed Mankato East. This is the Cougars’ first state tournament appearance in 14 years. Mankato East and Grand Rapids will take the field in Chaska at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
