No. 6 UMD women’s hockey secures another ‘W’ over Minnesota State for Senior Day

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The University of Minnesota Duluth continued their winning streak after defeating Mankato State University 4-1 during Senior Day st AMSOIL Arena.

The first period had an exciting start to the game, beginning with a shorthanded goal from fifth-year Olivia Mobley.

She now leads the entire country with four shorthanded goals.

Not stopping there, Mobley scored again just six minutes later in the same period.

Between Mobley’s goals, freshman forward Zoey Krock scored her 3rd of the season, giving the Dogs a 3-1 lead going into the second period.

While an active battle was fought between the teams, neither put any goals on the board during the second period.

Junior forward Mary Kate O’Brien scored an unassisted goal in the third, after being penalized while taking a shot on an empty net.

Following the win, the Bulldogs gathered to recognize the seniors on the team. The players were able to watch highlights of their careers with their teammates and family on the ice.

The Bulldogs travel to Ridder Arena next weekend to take on the No. 3 Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.
