MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Kim Crockett picked up Donald Trump’s endorsement Tuesday in her run for secretary of state in opposition to incumbent Democrat Steve Simon.

Trump’s endorsement on Reality Social claimed that election fraud in Minnesota is “rampant” and that Crockett would “resolve that.”

Trump has repeatedly pressed false claims that his 2020 election loss was attributable to fraud, despite the fact that the outcomes have been confirmed by a number of opinions in battleground states, by judges who rejected dozens of authorized challenges, and by Trump’s personal Division of Justice and prime officers in his administration.

Crockett has known as the 2020 election “rigged” in opposition to Trump and harshly criticized Simon’s help for making voting accessible, particularly through the pandemic. On Tuesday, she mentioned she was stunned by Trump’s endorsement, and pledged that if elected her workplace would “be a nonpartisan operation that guards each eligible vote.”

Democratic-Farmer-Labor Get together Chairman Ken Martin, in a press release, related Trump’s false claims to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and added: “It’s extra essential than ever that we don’t permit one in all Donald Trump’s lackeys into workplace” to proceed attacking elections.
