Angler’s sunfish ties Minnesota state record
(FOX 9) – The sunfish an angler not too long ago caught in northern Minnesota has tied a state report, in keeping with the Minnesota DNR.
Aaron Ardoff on Sept. 18 caught a 1-pound, 12-ounce hybrid sunfish (a cross between two species of sunfish) from Inexperienced Lake in Kandiyohi County, which the Minnesota DNR has licensed as tying the state’s weight-based report.
It ties a report set by a hybrid sunfish caught from the Zumbro River in 1994.
“As quickly as I began reeling, I may inform this wasn’t combating like a pike or bass,” Ardoff mentioned, noting he was along with his brother and a pal, fishing for bass and pike with a black and orange spinnerbait when the sunfish bit his lure. “When the fish obtained nearer I may see that it was a sunfish and I began panicking! I saved telling myself to not go loopy and simply get it in.”
Ardoff introduced the fish to an area sort out store, the place the native fisheries supervisor recognized the fish as a hybrid sunfish and witnessed it being weighed.
