Minneapolis VA Health Care System, Minnesota partners assist 545 homeless Veterans secure housing in 2023

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KEYC) — Minneapolis VA Health Care System, along with Minnesota partners, were able to help 545 homeless veterans secure permanent housing.

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System says in a release, that as part of a nationwide homelessness goal for 2023, Minneapolis VA Health Care System, along with several partners, provided 545 Veterans in Minnesota secure permanent housing.

“This goal was achieved through the hard work and dedication of our VA Minneapolis homeless programs staff, MAC-V, the Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs and our other valued community partners,” said VA Minneapolis Medical Center Director, Patrick Kelly. “The progress we’re seeing with Veteran homelessness in our catchment area shows that we have the right solutions to end homelessness for all Veterans we care for.”

VA health care systems across America helped 46,552 Veterans nationwide, which not only met, but exceeded its nationwide goal by more than 22.5%.

A top priority of VA and President Joe Biden, ending Veteran homelessness has been a “key pillar” of his Unity Agenda for the nation.

In addition, Minneapolis VA Health Care System exceeded its engagement with 238 unsheltered Veterans, connecting them with the housing and resources they need.

This ensured that 95.5% of Veterans that found housing remained secure in their placement.

Additionally, 100% of the Veterans who became homeless again, were either rehoused or placed back on a different road to secure a place to live.
