Adult, two children arrested after string of robberies in Minneapolis
Three people were arrested in connection with a string of robberies in Minneapolis on Thursday night.
Minneapolis PD says four aggravated robberies were reported in a period of just over three hours starting at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, when a group of men took a man’s bag with his keys and left the area in the car near West Lake Street and Colfax Ave South.
At 12:43 a.m., the group approached another man and began assaulting him, demanding his belongings at the 3400 block of Emerson Ave South. Paramedics took the man to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another robbery happened just before 1 a.m. in the area of West Lake Street and Humboldt Avenue South. A man was sitting in his car when he was approached by the group who began going through his pockets and attacked him. The man received treatment on the scene from paramedics.
The final robbery was reported at 1:26 a.m. on the 2800 block of 31st Street West. The victim was approached by the group, who began assaulting them. The group left the area in the victim’s car.
MPD Chief Brian O’Hara says police activated the “Robbery Pattern Protocol,” which allows officers not on emergency calls to “flood” an area where a violent incident occurred.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota State Patrol’s helicopter tracked the suspects into north Minneapolis in the first car they stole, and officers pursued them before the driver and two passengers bailed out of the vehicle at 84th Avenue North and Regent Avenue North.
Officers arrested one adult and two juveniles. The adult was booked into the Hennepin County Jail while the juveniles were sent to the Juvenile Detention Center on probable cause aggravated robbery charges.
