WI Snow System Incoming: When And How Much To Expect?

MILWAUKEE — A snowstorm bringing somewhere between a dusting and a couple of inches of snow is headed for southeast Wisconsin.

Less than an inch of snow accumulation is most likely for most of the Milwaukee metro, according to the National Weather Service.

“Cloudy conditions are expected today, with a nice warm-up for Wednesday,” the NWS said. “Attention then turns to the arrival of rain/snow Wednesday night, transitioning over to snow Thursday morning.”

Commuters on Wednesday night should prepare for snow. The storm is expected to arrive with rain Wednesday night and end with snow around noon Thursday.

Here’s the week-ahead NWS forecast from the Milwaukee Airport:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Rain and snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 34. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Rain and snow likely before 9am, then a chance of snow between 9am and noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a north wind 10 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 30. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 16. Northwest wind around 15 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 38. Breezy.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.
