Milwaukee firefighter and brother charged with felony in beating man
A Milwaukee firefighter is charged with a felony after prosecutors say he and his brother beat a man, leading to the victim being hospitalized with serious injuries.
Ty Dright-Jackson, a Milwaukee firefighter, and his brother Tramel Jackson are both charged with first degree reckless injury, as party to a crime in the attack on the man.
Dright-Jackson is currently employed by the fire department and on suspension, Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski told the Journal Sentinel. The Milwaukee Fire Department said in a Thursday news release that he was arrested on Dec. 6 and charged with a felony.
The department’s news release said it would have no comment to “ensure compliance with the Milwaukee Police Department investigation, and the District Attorney charges.”
“The Milwaukee Fire Department is taking this matter very serious, and has opened an internal investigation,” the release said.
The criminal complaint details police reviewed footage that showed the two brothers punching, stomping and kicking the victim outside of their residence.
Police investigated the matter after receiving a call for a burglary, according to the complaint. The brothers told police the victim enterer their home without invitation and they attacked him to get information on how he entered the home and who sent him to it.
Dright-Jackson told police he struck the victim with a baseball bat as well.
The victim was later intubated at the hospital and suffered a broken nose, cracked teeth and required several stitches from his injuries.
The two brothers are scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the case on Jan. 8. Their bond was each set at $5,000.
If convicted, the felony charge can lead to a fine of up to $100,000 and up to 25 years in prison.
