Milwaukee County Zoo: Harbor seal born on May 24
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Zoo introduced Wednesday, June 8 the start of a harbor seal. The pup was born on Tuesday, Might 24.
The feminine seal pup was born to mom, Cossette, and father, Ringo. This marks the primary pup for Cossette, and keepers report she is doing nice, bonding with the pup and nursing it. That is the sixth pup for Ringo, who’s about 44 years previous, and was born within the wild.
The pup was born on land and was swimming after half-hour. Shortly after the pup was born, keepers separated 2-year-old male, Bosco, to provide the pup time to bond with mother and learn to nurse. To start with, Bosco was very curious and needed to comply with mother and the pup intently within the water. At instances, his curiosity interrupted the pup making an attempt to nurse, in line with the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Inside 4 to six weeks, the pup will probably be weaned and taught to eat fish, which will probably be hand-fed by keepers.

Within the wild, harbor seals stay alongside the temperate and Arctic marine shoreline of the Northern Hemisphere and have the widest distribution of any seal species. They will dive to depths of 500 ft, however depths of as much as 1,460 have been recorded, remaining submerged for as much as half-hour at a time.
