Milwaukee 17-year-old killed, grandma held him as he died

A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot close to 71st and Hampton early Sunday, Sept. 18. Prestin Gill-Pate’s grandma instructed FOX6 Information she held her grandson in her arms till he died.

“He had his complete future forward of him,” stated Lennise Vickers. “I heard gunshots, and I simply instantly dropped to the ground.”

Milwaukee police stated the taking pictures occurred simply after midnight. That is when Vickers heard the pictures. 

“I heard a number of,” stated Vickers. “Perhaps about 5 – 6.”

She walked outdoors, yelling for her grandson, solely to listen to him reply that he wanted assist.

“I referred to as 911 and grabbed a towel, and I ran over to the place he was proper there and um, his final breath, all he was saying – ‘I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe,’” stated Vickers.

Vickers noticed he was shot and comforted him in his final moments.

“I had his head and his hand, after which he stopped speaking. He didn’t say nothing,” stated Vickers.

Police stated he died on the scene.

No arrests have been made. Household stated justice is the one factor that can carry them closure.

“It’s not like he had most cancers or one thing, and we noticed it coming,” stated Vickers. “We didn’t see it coming, so, you already know, I simply need peace.”

The 17-year-old was a senior at Madison Excessive College. His household stated he liked video video games and was a jokester.

Police have not shared what may need led to the taking pictures.
