Milwaukee is set for storms the evening of June 3 through the morning of June 4, due to a cold front making its way south through the state.
Taylor Patterson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Milwaukee office, said that the Milwaukee area and other parts of southeastern Wisconsin should expect between an inch to an inch and a half of rain.
“Our main concern with this rain is how heavy the rain will be,” Patterson said. “If it starts falling very quickly, especially later tonight, as people are driving around, urban flooding may be possible.”
The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 83 degrees on June 3. It will be breezy throughout the day and winds will grow stronger in the afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour in the afternoon.
Storms will grow more likely come nighttime, with between .5 and .75 inches of rain forecast for the city, per the NWS.
Rain should continue the morning of June 4. Temperatures are expected to dip, with a high of 62 degrees forecast. The rest of the week is forecast to remain in the 60s, according to the NWS.
Patterson explained that the potential storms are due to a cold front moving south from northern Wisconsin.
“That will move through the entire state, bringing rain to every single person in Wisconsin, starting this morning through early Wednesday morning,” Patterson said.
However, Patterson said, once the June 3 storms pass, southern Wisconsin should mostly stay dry for the rest of the week, though there is a small chance of light rain on Friday.
