Chicago mayor’s security detail catches Milwaukee man with military-grade weapon
CHICAGO (CBS 58) — A Milwaukee man is now charged with possession of military-grade weapons whereas standing not too removed from the Chicago mayor.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot stopped at Shake Shack on Michigan Avenue in Chicago Tuesday evening when a member of her safety crew grew to become suspicious of two males in line.
Police arrested 21-year-old Treveon Broadway and one other man who was not charged. Each males are from Milwaukee.
Court docket paperwork revealed police recovered two semi automated handguns from contained in the suspect’s car.
Broadway is charged with possessing a silencer and metallic piercing bullets.
“This isn’t the kind of weapon you carry for private safety. That is the kind of weapon you go to struggle with and also you’re trying to inflict most injury,” mentioned Ed Farrell, retired deputy U.S. Marshal.
Broadway was launched from custody after his aunt posted $1,500 for his bond.
