Dive rescue teams searched but did not find the man on Tuesday evening, according to a Facebook post from Western Lakes Fire District.

WLFD and the Summit Police Department were dispatched to the lake at 6:04 p.m. The WLFD and Lake Country Fire & Rescue dive teams then began search and rescue efforts.

An investigation established that the man and two children were on a kayak when it flipped. The children grabbed onto the kayak and called for help, but the man didn’t return to the surface.

“Rescue operations continued until 7:45 p.m., at which point resources transitioned to recovery with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team,” according to the post.

The search continued until 10:30 p.m. and resumed Wednesday morning.

“Our sympathies and prayers are with the family and friends of the missing male. We understand this is a very difficult and emotional time for them to have a loved one missing. We would like to thank the property owners on the lake for providing us with space and respect while we continue our search efforts. It was greatly appreciated to not have the lake disturbed this morning by boating activities which is giving the sonar and dive teams the opportunity to conduct the search. Thank you to the community as a whole for your support during this difficult time,” WLFD said in an updated post.
