Cafe Terrazza and neighboring Baccara on Milwaukee’s east side appear to have closed, six months after opening.

The two establishments at 2856 N. Oakland Ave. were closed Wednesday night with no one inside. In addition, outdoor signage had been removed and two beer coolers, visible through the window, were empty.

The concepts came from Donnie Dries, a contractor who was repairing the space formerly home to Black Rose bar, which closed in 2018, and and neighboring pizza restaurant that changed concepts routinely, most recently operating as Monster Pizza.

Dries did not respond to a request for comment regarding the closure.

Baccara MKE’s Facebook page did share a post Thursday morning about a Thursday night hot dog deal, along with drink deals. The post appears to be set to post every Thursday morning.

Baccara MKE’s goal was to bring a bar back to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus area, paying homage to the former student favorite Black Rose with the name Baccara, a type of black rose.

Cafe Terrazza was an Italian restaurant with pasta dishes and pizzas made in the wood-fired oven that was already in the space.
